Information on Training Courses and workshops
We have an on going training program which is aimed at making our engineers competent at servicing the equipment we support and also understanding the applications of the equipment. It is only if we understand our clients applications, that we will be able to support the equipment to their requirements.
The training courses, workshops and seminars we advertise or arrange, are mostly driven by our in-house needs. This may arise from client requests or due to new equipment or new applications that we are involved in.
We would welcome any recommendations for courses or for you to join us for any of the courses offered. Just contact us and let us know how we can help.
We will also freely advertise any training offered by other companies, universities or institutions that may benefit our staff or our clients.

Courses for 2006
SEM Course - Operation and Basic Maintenance. Australia
The 2006 Workshop, run by Steve Chapman (Protrain Ltd, UK), will be held in Canberra at the Australian National University Electron Microscopy Unit.
The workshop will run over 5 days from the 12th to the 16th June 2006, and will cover SEM operation and basic maintenance, with some EDXA and FIB work.
The course in 2006 will be run in association with Anaspec cc, Australia.

Canberra travel and accommodation suggestions can be found on web sites below.
These highly recommended courses are enjoyable, intensive and interactive.
Participants gain experience in getting the best possible performance from a range of SEMs. Professional microscopists and actual and aspiring "power users" are the main clientele, some people have so much fun they come back to do the course twice!

Fractography Course
There is interest in running a course in South Africa again.
Presented by John Pomfret
John spent over 25 years working at Rolls Royce Jet engine design and manufacture in the UK.
His knowledge on material and stress of materials is vast. But given the amount of work done on gearbox design and monitoring, his work in using microscopes to identify materials and resolve problems from the data attained is what makes this course very interesting.
Please contact rachel@anaspec.co.za

This is an in-house course for Technicians. We are sponsoring the cost of bringing an Oxford Training expert to South Africa to train as many of our technicians as possible.
Edax TEM Course
We have invited an EDAX application specialist to visit the labs in Botswana to keep us up-to-date on the latest in ED analysis on a TEM using their EDAX system.

This is also unfortunately a per invite only course.
Understanding Fractography
